Stapeley Grange Cattery

Happy ending for Pearl, who was in RSPCA's care for 200 days

A cat who was in the RSPCA’s care for seven months has been rehomed after a media appeal to find her a new family went global.

Pearl arrived at RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange cattery in February this year, after she was abandoned outside a vets. But after 200 days she still had not been adopted, and she had seen 92 cats come and go into the cattery.

But her story featured in media local and internationally, and also on social media - which resulted in rehoming offers from as far away as the USA, Germany and the Philippines.

In the end, a family local to Nantwich who had seen her story rehomed her after she was found to be a perfect fit with them.

Sharon Coleclough said: “Pearl is settling in really well. She is starting to explore her space and is playing, eating, and sleeping like a trooper.

“She is a very individual cat and I’m sure that the more settled she gets the more that quirkiness will shine through.

“We’ve always adopted and we wanted to make sure that we gave a home to a cat who might otherwise be overlooked, Pearl fitted the bill and I’m sure that she will soon begin to understand that she is definitely in her forever home now.”

Lee Stewart, manager of Stapeley Grange cattery, said: “We had a fantastic response to her rehoming appeal and we are not surprised that we had enquiries from all over the world as she is a lovely cat - we just couldn’t understand why Pearl was in our care for so long.

“She was terrified when she first came into the cattery but over time she became more confident. We are so pleased that she has been rehomed with the Coleclough family as, on paper, they were the perfect family for her. I am sure she will have many happy years with her new family.”

Stapeley has many more cats and kittens looking for their loving forever homes.
