Stapeley Grange Cattery

Appeal to find purr-fect home for cat pair

An RSPCA cattery is desperately looking for a fur-ever home for two of its residents - who have come back into its care for the FOURTH time through no fault of their own.

Brother and sister Charlie and Cherry are currently patiently waiting to be adopted at the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange in Nantwich, Cheshire.

They first arrived at the centre because of their previous owner’s ill health.

They were rehomed to a new owner, but they returned to the cattery again after their new owner also suffered from ill health.

A second and third adoption also didn’t work out, again because of ill health.

Lee Stewart, manager of the cattery, said: “Charlie and Cherry are such lovely cats who just haven’t had much luck in finding a permanent new home, and it is such a shame. We have never had such a run of bad luck.

“The majority of our cats come through the RSPCA inspectorate as we do not have the space to take in cats from members of the public, but the cattery team are on a mission to find a home for Charlie and Cherry.

“They are aged 12 and want nothing more than to have a lovely new home where they can curl up on a comfy sofa together.

“They will need to be rehomed together as they have never been apart and Cherry is quite timid, so it is good for her to have Charlie around. They would also need to be rehomed as house cats and with no other cats in the house.

“We just know that the perfect owner is out there for them and will give them the lovely home that they deserve.”

To enquire about rehoming a cat from Stapeley, contact the cattery by calling 0300 123 0722 or email stapeleycattery@rspca.org.uk. You can also pop into the cattery, in London Road, Nantwich, anytime between 11.30am to 3.30pm every day except Monday.

The cattery is currently full, as a result of a decline in adoptions in the last few months.

Lee said:  “The decline in cat adoptions from our cattery is very worrying. The team give our cats five-star treatment whilst they are with us, but we cannot substitute a loving family home where they can get the attention they need 24/7.

“Our rehoming has a knock-on effect and it means we are not able to accept in more cats and kittens from our inspectors, who are struggling to get them into centres such as ours.

“We desperately need help and would urge anyone who is thinking of inviting a cat into their family to come and see us."
