Millie is a beautiful greyhound who is around 7 years old. She came to Southridge back in October 2016 with a badly broken back leg. Millie had surgery to fix the break but unfortunately her body reacted to the metal and she needed further surgery and daily vet checks to ensure it was healing nicely. Because of this, Millie spent her time at the vets, a place most dogs don't particularly enjoy, however Millie loved it!! She soon became a VIP - Very Important Pet! And is treated like royalty!! Millie has a lovely comfortable bed but does spend most of her time sitting in the staff room on the sofa keeping the nurses company when they are on a break.Millie has done amazingly! Her leg is healing nicely and although she does still attend regular physio sessions to help to build up muscle in the leg, she is well enough to come back to Southridge. The only problem..the nurses don't want to let her go!
Her whole demeanour has changed since she first came to us. She was timid, looked around for reassurance and seemed slightly on edge. She now loves attention, can't get enough of cuddles and really enjoys playing, something when we didn't think we would ever see.
Millie is good with other dogs so it may be possible for her to live with one who is laid back and used to being around bigger dogs, but equally, an owner who is at home for most of the time to keep her company would also be fine for her. She will need a home with older teenage children as we do not know a lot about her history although she is a really lovely girl. Millie will also need a home with no cats or small animals due to her breed. A 6ft secure fence around the garden is also a requirement.
Millie will require further hydrotherapy, which our vets have agreed to cover the cost of, and physiotherapy at home which we will explain fully how to do. She is a good girl for her treatment - we think she just enjoys the attention now!
This gorgeous lady really is one of a kind. Arriving in such an upsetting way to seeing her thrive - animals like this are he reason we all do the job we do!
If you think that you could offer Millie the perfect forever home and promise to never let her down again, please speak to reception. We are able to arrange for Millie to come to Southridge to meet you if you are interested in rehoming her.
