GERTIE

Originally brought to the Centre after having been abandoned in a livery yard for a year with another horse, Gertie is at Southridge looking for a very special new owner.
Having worked with Gertie, it has become apparent that something awful must have happened to her in her previous life. She literally goes into a blind panic as soon as you try to tack her up. We have had specialists here to assess her, but as we do not want to cause her any additional stress, we have decided that Gertie is now just going to be a companion horse.
Gertie has spent her life with another horse called Doris, who has now sadly passed away. The two of them were very fond of each other - it therefore very important that Gertie has new friends in her new home, as she is used to the company of other horses and becomes very distressed when she is seperated from them.
Gertie will need someone experienced, who can take her under their wing and provide her with a retirement home where she can enjoy living out the rest of her days.
