Oxfordshire Branch

Fund a Foster Pet for £5 this Christmas

It costs around £5 per week for a foster carer to take in a pet for RSPCA Oxfordshire.

The main ongoing expenses come from food and treats. Essential items such as collars, leads, bedding and toys are all provided by our branch as many of our foster pets come from the streets and have nothing. All veterinary care is also provided by the charity prior to animals meeting their foster carers.

What we can’t put a price on though, is the love and company that our foster carers give to so many cats, dogs and rabbits every single day.

During December we are asking for donations of just £5 to help fund the cost of foster care.

That means, one person can fund one week of care, with one donation.

You don’t need to take an animal in to help

This Christmas, you can help pets in foster homes by making a one-off donation of just £5 to our appeal fund. Pets like Professor Pumpkin and Lance.

The Professor had a difficult life to begin with…

At just one year old he was given up for adoption due to not getting on with his housemates, a rather boisterous dog, and another cat. He wasn’t settling in the neighbouring county cattery, so we found him a foster home with a couple who didn’t have any other pets.

The Professor was able to grow his confidence and let his sweet nature shine through.

Meet Lance

Nervous Lance spent the first years of his life locked up in his house. He needed socialising and companionship, which he got in spades in one of our foster homes. He now understands house rules and the kindness of humans.

£5 a week for a loving home

Many animals just aren’t suited to being in a rehoming centre or kennels, and as the Oxfordshire branch of the RSPCA only has a rehoming centre for rabbits, most of our other pets must go to foster homes before finding their new families.

Whilst RSPCA Oxfordshire is affiliated to the national charity, we are a separately registered charity and responsible for raising our own funds, and we need your help.

That’s why we’d like to ask for a donation, of whatever you can afford, to help our foster homes cover the cost of taking care of pets like Professor Pumpkin and Lance.
