MAX & SHADOW

Brothers Max and Shadow came into our care via RSPCA Inspector. They are a lovely friendly pair of boys, full of beans and very affectionate with each other.

They need a rural or semi rural home with plenty of safe outdoor space for them to explore, hunt and play.

In their previous home it was clear they had no form of litter training and on arrival to the cattery it was then our job to teach them by finding what litter they preferred and giving them lost of choice of trays! Eventually all the hard work paid off and they always use their litter trays (they like deep filled gravel trays). Because of this their new owner needs to be prepared for some toileting accidents initially, although we anticipate this should resolve once they have access to outdoors.

Shadow has a seasonal allergy that causes skin issues around his head and also affecting his ears. Shadow has been treated with antibiotics to clear the infection and steroid tablets to control the allergy symptoms. As allergies are not curable, it is likely that Shadow will require ongoing Veterinary treatment to manage this condition long-term. The RSPCA North Somerset Branch will financially support this condition if required, providing our Consulting Veterinary Practice is used. Shadow will be asopted undder our ASSISTED ADOPTION AGREEMENT SCHEME.

On arrival to our care Max & Shadow had very bad diarrhoea. We tried various methods to make them better - panacur wormer course, anti-biotics and pro-biotic powders and finally we tried a specialist diet food called Hills d/d. The d/d diet has made a significant improvement, so much so that their faeces are now perfect and they can now find a new home!
Our vet has advised that Max & Shadow continues to be fed on the veterinary prescription dry food Hills d/d (average online purchase price of £12.50 for 1.5kg bag), they can stay on this long-term/forever, or under guidance from their new adopters vet they may be able to be moved gradually on to a different food at a later date once they have fully settled in her new home.

We know these boys have a lot of baggage but they are such lovely cats that will bring so much love to a family.
