Cookie came in to our care originally in November 2016 with Cat ‘Flu symptoms. Cat ‘Flu is unfortunately a very common illness in poorly-bred and often multi-cat household kittens. It is caused by usually one of two viruses, and symptoms can vary from mild (e.g. snuffles and the odd sneeze) to full-blown ‘snotty’ discharge from eyes and nose, with coughing, sneezing and a sore throat (much similar to our own ‘flu). Cookie had a course of antibiotic eye drops and responded very well to the treatment.
Cookie was returned to RSPCA care in April 2018 and again in September 2018 - The adopters did tell us there had been no problem relating to cat flu in the time they had them.
Fluey cats/kittens are very likely to be flu carriers. Some will periodically shed the virus throughout their lives. Some will continuously shed virus for a period of time after they have recovered from flu. This will increase under times of stress (such as operations, moving house, a new child or pet). Therefore any other cat in the household would be at risk of catching flu. We are looking to home Cookie as an only cat.

Cookie had unfortunately not received much attention in the way of coat care in her previous homes. She was quite badly matted on tummy, under her legs and around her bottom which will have been very uncomfortable for her. With some TLC and grooming when she arrived in our care we removed all the matts easily and she is now much more comfortable and very happy! Cookie now needs regular grooming (daily) to prevent her fur becoming matted again. This should be no trouble as she enjoys it!

She is a quiet natured but sweet litttle girl that needs a dedicated home to love her, pamper her and help build her trust and confidence.

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I'll probably spend more time inside
  • I'd prefer an adult only household
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
