We are running an application process for Cassie as pups are very popular and she has special requirements due to her medical history. Please ring us on 01278 782671 to register your interest and be considered for adoption.

We are looking for a LOCAL home to us, so Cassie's vet can be continued to be used.

Lovely little Cassie is looking for a home with a family that can provide training, exercise, stimulation and most importantly fun companionship. This young lady has had a very small world up until she came to stay with us but has the potential to become a wonderful companion.

Shortly after arriving in our care it was clear Cassie was uncomfortable on her hind legs and was walking oddly. She was x-rayed at our consulting vets and we were shocked to discover that she had sustained a fracture to her left hind leg (the tibial crest) that must have occurred recently in her previous home.

This injury required surgery to correct the fracture with a pin and wire operation. This was followed by several weeks of strict cage rest and a gradual exercise introduction regime.
This is sadly a common injury in young dogs and the prognosis is good to excellent rated for recovery.
Although Cassie’s muscle tone and the condition of her leg and the way she walks has much improved, it is still not 100%. However, with regular controlled lead walking and free-running exercise, this should continue to improve

Potentially if Cassie is adopted fairly quickly she may require continued physiotherapy in her new home. If this is the case the RSPCA North Somerset Branch will fully support the therapy (For this condition ONLY) but adopters will need to have follow up appointments with our consulting vet Ann Parry, Bridge Vets in Highbridge. Should adopters choose to use a different vet we will not be able to fully financially support.
