BELLA

This pretty little lady is Bella! She is FULL of character and just loves to be with people!

Bella is very chatty and likes to follow you around and genereally help (or get in the way) of whatever you are doing!

Bella was brought in to our care by one of our inspectorate team after her owner could not provide her basic welfare needs.

When she arrived in our care Bella was full of fleas and covered in scabs. This is a condition called Flea Allergic Dermatitis also known as ‘FAD’. This is a condition whereby the skin becomes extremely sensitive to flea bites due to prolonged heavy exposure. It can cause the cat to nibble and bite themselves, sometimes making areas sore and producing crusting/scabbing of the skin. Depending on the severity of the inflammation, they may be treated simply by getting rid of the fleas, although sometimes they do require steroids to control the allergy.

Bella will need REGULAR VETERINARY QUALITY FLEA PREVENTION to help prevent her being affected in the future by fleas just like any cat and is the responsibility of her new owner.

As allergies are not curable, Bella will require ongoing treatment to manage this condition. Bella is currently being given Prednidale 5mg tablets on a reducing dose of ½  tablet every other day and can go to her new home whilst on this medication. The RSPCA North Somerset Branch will support this condition through our consulting Veterinary Surgeon under our ASSISTED ADOPTION AGREEMENT - for more information please come and visit us or give us a call on 01278 782671.
