Lovely Russell came to us with one of our inspectors when his previous owner was unable to meet his welfare needs. He has been with us for some time, as he had suffered with entropion (a painful eye condition) which had gone untreated, and had several lumps and bumps which have been removed. Russell has now had an operation on his eye, to prevent his eyelashes scratching onto his eye, and he has recovered well. We are very keen to find him a loving new home after everything he has been through. Russell is a large crossbreed, possibly a Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Mastiff and will need an adopter with large dog experience. He can be very shy around new people and we feel he has not been well loved or well socialised in his previous home. He is generally fine walking around other dogs here at the kennels, but we feel he would be best suited to being the only pet in his new home, and with adult only adopters who can show Russell patience and understanding to help him gain in confidence. We feel he would be fine left for short periods once he settles into a new home. He can be very strong on his lead, and has had little training previously, but we have taught him to sit and he loves to work for treats, so we feel he will enjoy training once he has learned to feel safe with is new adopter. Ongoing training will help to build a strong relationship with Russell and his new adopter.
Russell has had a tough life, and deserves to find happiness. If this could be with you, please email email@example.com or call 07973 952575.
Russell is currently based near Hexham.
