"I’ve been running on and off for years, including roughly half a dozen marathons and many more half marathons. The GNR is one of the best simply because of the fantastic atmosphere. My wife and I have supported the RSPCA for just as many years and we hope to raise funds for our local branch, Newcastle & North Northumberland, because without them, our dog Frankie wouldn't be with us today. Please help us fight against cruelty and give animals a chance to lead their best lives."

GEMMA: "The RSPCA is a charity very close to my heart, which I have volunteered for for 6 years now. I have seen first hand the life changing work they do and their ability to transform the lives of mistreated animals, giving them the second chance they deserve. They receive no government funding and are responsible for raising funds locally to support the animals in their care.So like many other charities during the last year they have been unable to hold events to raise the vital funds they need. The RSPCA is the only rehoming charity to carry out both pre and post home visits, which shows the commitment they have to their animals and that their wellbeing is their top priority. So I have decided along with Becca to take part in the GNR for the RSPCA this year! I am definitely not a runner so this is going to kill me (hopefully not literally!) I am going to need all the help I can get so any support in the form of donations are very much appreciated!"

REBECCA: “Having been involved with the RSPCA for a number of years, Gemma and I have seen first hand the amazing work carried out by this organisation and the difference it makes to the lives of so many homeless and neglected animals. They receive no government funding and are responsible for raising funds locally to support the animals in their care. Like so many charities, fundraising efforts have been significantly impacted by the pandemic however the need for there work has continued throughout, meaning any contributions would make a huge difference in these uncertain times. Neither of us are runners and this is going to be a challenge to say the least, but something we've both always wanted to do so now seemed as good a time as any. Especially when it's for a cause so close to both our hearts, and any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support - here's hoping we make it to the finish line!

"I've been thinking about doing the GNR for the last couple of years and during lockdown decided to do it this year! Any donations however small are greatly appreciated. RSPCA is a great cause as you know I love my dog Red....she's very proud of me doing it!"

" This will be my second Great North Run, but first raising funds for the RSPCA, a charity close to my heart. My whole family have been involved with the RSPCA for many years, volunteering, fostering, fundraising and adopting our own pets from the RSPCA. Every penny I raise will hopefully go on to help an animal in need'

Rehome a pet - can you offer a home to an animal in our care?
