Hull & East Riding Branch

Help support our Bunny Appeal!

Can you help us provide a safe and comfortable place for our rabbits and guinea pigs? We're aiming to raise £3,000 to create an outdoor garden space for our smaller furry friends.

What we need:

  • A fully fenced and secure area that will be able to contain rabbits of all sizes and guinea pigs.
  • The top can be open (if this is easier to achieve) as the animals using it will be supervised at all times, but it does need access to allow staff and volunteers to enter easily and safely.
  • It needs to be covered to provide shelter from the elements which will allow us to use it all year round.

What it will be used for:

  • A garden space gives us more options for providing exercise opportunities which is vital for healthy rabbits and guinea pigs.
  • The space will be filled with enrichment and will provide opportunities for natural behaviours like digging and climbing as we can provide a digging pit and levels etc.
  • An outdoor space, in some cases, can give our staff a better understanding of a rabbits behaviour as some rabbits are more comfortable in an outdoor setting (depending on their background). This helps when completing their assessments and deciding the type of home they would suit.
  • A garden is a nice setting for the staff and volunteers to get to know the rabbits and guinea pigs.
  • It can be used as a neutral space to aid in the bonding process of rabbits which is an important part of what we do.
