Update on our lovely Ace!

Update on our lovely Ace! image

Ace the Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross finally left our Centre on the 11th of January, after spending 6 long months in our care.

This lovely boy had been overlooked time and again due to his breed, and the fact that he didn't get along very well with other dogs. The second issue was something that the kennel environment wasn't helping, and that would only improve once he settled into a loving home. The first issue was something that should not have made potential adopters walk away.

There is a stigma attached to Staffordshire Bull Terriers, which even extends to crossbreed dogs that have a 'Staffy look'. Sadly, this appears to be due to misrepresentation in the media and the rise of certain individuals using these dogs as 'Status Dogs'.

As with any dog, when raised in a loving environment Staffies are loyal, loving dogs with the biggest heart. They can make fantastic pets and just need to be given a chance. Often, the Staffies in our care have come from difficult backgrounds and desperately need somebody to take them home and give them the love and care they crave. Staffies are, above all else, 'people' dogs; they adore attention from people and make great companions.

Ace suffered from this issue and unfortunately it took 6 months for the right couple to come along and see his potential. Now he has spent his first few weeks in his new home and has settled right in.

Hopefully Ace will be featured in his new home on the new series of Dog Rescuers which will begin later this year. It will be great to see him enjoying the happiness he so deserves.
