Community Animal Action Events

With regards to animal welfare, prevention is always better than reaction, so we promote responsible pet ownership.

2013 has been a great year for us as we have been actively promoting animal welfare in the community! We have had a number of Community Animal Action Events (CAAEs) where we have offered microchipping of animals, vouchers for the neutering of cats and general welfare treatments for a highly reduced rate and, in some cases, for free.

These events proved very popular and as a result to date we have achieved:

  • Dogs Microchipped - 69
  • Cats Microchipped - 126
  • Dogs nails clipped - 26
  • Cats nails clipped - 3
  • Dog worm/flea treatment - 25
  • Cat worm/flea treatment - 18
  • Neutering vouchers issued - 39

By the end of the year we hope to have increased these figures further.

The above does not include the figures of the animals we have had in the Centre, who we have neutered and microchipped.

A notable event was the RSPCA Roadshow (pictured), which was held on the 3rd and 4th August at Sussex Circus car park in Chaddesden. A local vet was on hand to offer advice to owners and we were able to microchip, flea, worm and clip nails on site. We had great feedback from members of public on the day and were really pleased to be able to offer our help.

We are looking forward to planning our CAAEs next year and building an even bigger animal welfare programme!
