OLLIE

Ollie came into our care from another RSPCA, he had been there since April after being taken in by one of our inspectors due to his previous owner not meeting his welfare needs. Ollie had a permanent limp on his right hind leg that his owners had not sought treatment for, after further investigation we have found that Ollie has a luxating patella that is slightly mobile, this causes him to limp occasionally but the vets don't feel he needs surgery to repair it at the moment as he is getting about with no issues and he isn't in any pain or discomfort.
Ollie is very typical of the Lurcher breed he loves nothing more than zooming around off lead in our sensory garden, he literally runs ring around us! He loves chasing after balls and Frisbee┬┐s and also enjoys a game of ragger play. Ollie is a smart dog and already knows most of his basic commands, he can be quite vocal when out on the lead when he's around other dogs, we don't think he is used to socialising with others as he doesn't know how to introduce himself nicely. We are working with him on this behaviour so that other dogs aren't put off by the noise or grabbing and anyone interested in offering him a new home will also be shown our training methods so you are able to continue this in his new home. For this reason we are looking for Ollie to be rehomed to an experienced person who can take on board the training that we've started. We feel Ollie will suit a family home with children of a secondary school age as he has been known to be a little head shy and they can also take part in the training if they're confident.

My personality

  • I know how to sit (and lots of other commands too!)
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I can be left alone for short periods
  • I'd prefer to be the only dog in a home
  • I'd prefer not to live with a cat
  • I'm a bright spark
  • I love food and treats
