**Housecat**

Meet Myrtle!
This poor little girl was taken into the animal hospital as an injured stray, when Myrtle was rescued she was suffering from an injury to her ear caused by sun damage. Unfortunately the ear was so badly burnt the vets had to amputate it. During routine tests we also found that Myrtle is FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) this will now meant that she will need to be rehomed as an indoor housecat and she cannot live with other cats.

Myrtle was so scared when she arrived so we placed her in a loving foster home to help her settle and gain confidence around people. She has come on leaps & bounds in her foster home, although she is still scared she is doing well. This is what her foster carer has to say about her
"Myrtle thoroughly enjoys a fuss on her terms, she soon let¿s you know when she¿s had enough (not nastily but quite firm) so best not take your eyes off her whilst fussing particularly during the early stages. Nor does she like you going over her head before fussing, let her see your hand first and then she will let you stroke her, eventually and particularly her tummy. She is always `brushing herself around feet.

Her confidence improves daily, but does run off instead of letting you pass her on the stairs and particularly if she feels trapped. She still likes her own time alone and plays alone, but comes downstairs frequently and does spend a fair amount of time with us. She currently has her own (chosen) bedroom but also sleeps in the conservatory"

Myrtle will suit an experienced owner that has lots of time and patience to help her adopt into her new home and help her gain the confidence she needs.

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be kept indoors
  • I'd prefer an adult only household
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
