Poor Missy was in so much pain when we rescued her, she was just a bundle of matted fur.

RSPCA Inspector Kris Walker was stunned to be confronted by a bundle of knots : "When I first saw Missy I couldn't even tell she was a dog. Her coat was so matted she couldn't see in front of her and would run around in circles as she only had limited visibility. The vets went through three sets of clippers in order to remove 2kg of matted fur."

Missy's original owner was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Thankfully, Missy has now fully recovered and found her loving happy home.

Our inspectors work tirelessly day and night to rescue animals, whether they're injured, abandoned by the side of the road or trying to survive in the very worst of conditions. After we rescue, we ensure animals are provided with the medical care they often urgently need. We then give animals the love and attention they need to help them recover, before we try to find them a new forever home.

Your monthly gift will help us in the challenging weeks and months ahead.

More than 80 percent of your donation will go to rescuing and rehoming or releasing vulnerable animals. This means abandoned dogs and cats will be cared for, or an injured fox can get a much needed check-up. Most importantly, it ensures that the voice of all animals can be heard.
From bats to badgers and seals to sparrows, we help animals great and small. Each year, we rescue more than 100,000 of them. Without the funds gained through our marketing, we would not be able to finance our crucial work.
Your 1p will support our board members as they create campaigns and push for governance change. At home or abroad, our prevention campaigns are essential for improving the safety and happiness of animals.
