TARA

Say hello to beautiful Tara, our 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Tara was originally brought to us by one of our Inspectors following concerns for her welfare, and was rehomed. Unfortunately, in her new home, she became very overweight and despite our best efforts to help her adopters by providing a veterinary health check for Tara and a diet and exercise plan, they felt they were unable to exercise Tara and so made the best decision for her and returned her to our care. Tara has gained almost 50% of her bodyweight and appeared to be quite depressed, but even in the short time we have had her back with us, we have found she is back to her cheeky self and keen to go for walks. We are taking care to gradually increase her exercise and monitoring her diet to begin her long journey of weight loss, but we will be able to help support any adopter willing to offer Tara a home and continue to advise on her diet and exercise plan if required. After everything Tara has been through, we really feel this gorgeous girl deserves the chance to find what will hopefully be her forever home.
Tara walks quite well on her lead and knows how to sit, but would benefit from some ongoing training in her new home. She previously walked beautifully on her lead, so we don't think it will take long until she remembers her good manners. Tara previously attended lots of fundraising events and sponsored walks with us, but since returning has been a little grumpy with other dogs. Again, we don't think it will take long before she is back to her sociable self! We feel Tara would be best suited to being the only pet in her new home, but is very people friendly and could probably live with older teenage children who were used to having dogs around. Tara would definitely benefit from having someone around most of the time who could help her feel safe and loved in her new home, take the time to help her learn to play and give her that all important exercise and stimulation to help with her weight loss. Once she loses some weight, we feel Tara will enjoy walking greater distances and start to have fun again!
