UPDATE - After Sooty started losing weight, we had her blood tested and it showed that she has hyperthyroidism, which is a fairly common problem amongst older cats.  She has started treatment for it, and so far the results are positive.  Within the space of 3 weeks her thyroid levels were back to normal and she had gained 1kg in weight!  This is really good news and shows that her condition is under good control.  Sooty will need medication for the rest of her life, but we will cover the costs of that along with any other vet bill that is related to the hyperthyroidism.  We are urgently looking for a nice retirement home for Sooty, as a cattery environment isn't the best place for a catwith a health problem. Sooty is an absolutely stunning female cat who is around 9yrs old, she has lived with two other female cats quite happily. She has come into our care after her owner had to move and couldn’t take the cats with him.
She’s a nice cat who likes to have a fuss from people and she’s been no trouble while she’s been with us. She has been as good as gold on all her trips to the vet too.  She just needs to find a home with someone who will love her and look after her, we are worried that she’ll be overlooked because of her colour, her health problem and her age, but she really is a beautiful girl with a beautiful nature.

Why I'm special

I'm a slightly older girl, but that just means that I'm older and wiser, and not silly and giddy like all the younger cats.  I'm very well behaved and I promise not to be any trouble.  I'm really just desperate to find a home again, as I miss my old owner and my home comforts, especially now I've been put onto medication for my thyroid (which I take with no problem in my food, I might add!).  I need someone really special to love me and make me feel just as special in my last few years.

My personality

  • I may be able to live with another cat
  • I'll probably spend more time inside
  • I could live with children
  • I love a cat nap
  • I may be able to live with a friendly dog

Help feed animals in our care

It costs on average £8.52 to feed a single animal in our care for just one week!

We rehome thousands of animals every year. Whilst some are lucky enough to find a new home in just a few weeks, many more stay with us for months until we're able to find them their perfect family.

Will you help us cover the costs of feeding dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and more with a donation today?

*The funds collected will be used wherever the need is greatest.
