Meet Sammy the Anatolian Shepherd. We are looking for a very special home for this very large dog. Ideally we are looking for a farm type home with land for Sammy to roam free, the reason for this is because Sammy has missed out on been socialised around everyday things such as traffic, walking through built up areas and walking on his lead. Staff at the centre work closely with Sammy daily to get him used to new things but without doubt Sammy would be a much relaxed and content in a rural area. Sammy is good with dogs, of course we need to take his size into consideration but as long as there is enough space and freedom for the dogs we aren’t ruling out Sammy living with one as long as they get along. Sammy wouldn’t be able to live with a cat in close contact but in a farm type home he may be able to get used to them, again as long as they are able to get away as and when necessary. Never the less Sammy is a very social able dog, an adult home or family with sensible older teenagers who are willing to work with our behaviourists will be considered. Sammy is a gentle giant who has been a pleasure to have at the centre and has a soft, loveable and gentle nature when he playing and relaxed. Guarantee you will have lots of fun with this big boy and it will be very rewarding to have this gentle giant as a companion. If you or someone you know could offer Sammy a new home please contact us or pass our number on 01422 365 628.

Why I'm special

Sammy is a larger than life character. He is big and strong and looking for an owner that matches that. He is more like a horse than a dog but has the goofy personality of a young Labrador. If you don’t mind sharing a quarter of the settee whilst Sammy relaxes in the rest then he is the dog for you. Sammy loves the freedom of a field to run around in, chase his toys and play with some of the other dogs at the centre. just remember this big lad will not stop at anything to have a good rough and tumble.

My personality

  • I need training how to sit nicely (and then I can master the rest)
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I can be left alone for short periods
  • I may be able to live with another dog
  • I'd prefer not to live with a cat
  • I'm a gentle giant (big and strong)
  • I love fuss and attention

Help feed animals in our care

It costs on average £8.52 to feed a single animal in our care for just one week!

We rehome thousands of animals every year. Whilst some are lucky enough to find a new home in just a few weeks, many more stay with us for months until we're able to find them their perfect family.

Will you help us cover the costs of feeding dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and more with a donation today?

*The funds collected will be used wherever the need is greatest.
