Roxy is a very friendly dog who loves to meet people and enjoys fuss and attention. Even though she is a bit of an older girl, she is still full of energy and she loves going for walks and exploring the great outdoors!

Roxy is finding kennels a little stressful and we would love for her to find a new home as soon as possible.

Why I'm special

A Special Appeal for a Special Lady…

Each animal in our care has a file that details all that they are – from health and behaviour, through likes and dislikes, across to specific treatments received – a thorough record of all the information that we have about them. On the very front page of this is a brief explanation as to why they entered into our care – a few words, nothing more. But words with a moroseness to them, words that sit heavily on the soul. For seven-year-old Roxy, it reads simply: ‘Abandonment’.

Some words sit heavier than others.

To be abandoned must be a truly terrible thing. The thought that Roxy may have experienced this breaks our hearts but it makes us all the more determined to make sure she finds the perfect home as soon as possible, a home where she can experience true love, a love on which she can whole-heartedly depend.

Roxy is a lovely, friendly girl who loves plenty of fuss and attention – though she is prone to feeling quite anxious in new situations and with unfamiliar people, trust is something she, understandably, struggles with sometimes. Her favourite pastime is going for walks and exploring the great outdoors, where she loves sticking her nose into every tussock and flower and where she can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, well away from the chaos of the kennels. She is very responsive to treats and is a particularly clever young lady.

More than anything, Roxy is looking for a loving owner who can share with her the warmth that she so desires. It is fantastic to see her with people who she knows, how her face lights up into that wide, Staffy grin, or how she looks at you with the most hangdog, puppy-like face when she wants a cuddle. She’s such a lovely girl. Now she needs a lovely home to match.

Roxy would be best suited to an adult-only home, a home in which she is the only animal, and with an owner who is fairly active and thus can entertain her with her favourite games and plenty of nice walks. If you are interested in her – and we really hope you are – then please give us a call on 01246 273358.

She might’ve have come into our care on the back of a truly heart-wrenching story, but lets help make the next step in her journey a beautifully happy one.
