Hi, My name is Ralphy and this is my story...
It was the start of a new year, we had just had christmas and celebrated the New year, life was good, I was chilling in my usual place when my daddy scooped me up and told me we were going to see the vet. My mouth had been sore for some time so I was quite relieved that he was finally getting it checked out. We got to the vets and he put me down outside in my box, I was watching all the people walking past and looking at their feet, it felt like I was in their for ages... Finally I was on the move again but I didn¿t recognise this person carrying me, I overheard them talking and saying I was all alone outside the vets, that¿s when I realised that the feet I was watching was my daddy walking away.

As I was an orphan again I had to come to the RSPCA, they¿re a charity that take care of cats with no mommy or daddy. The kind people fixed my teeth but they also found that I had an actual broken heart ¿¿

After being abandoned by my daddy I didn¿t know who to trust, I was very wary of these people, even though they all seemed nice and I was no longer in pain I wasn¿t prepared to get my heart broken again for 2nd time so soon, but they wouldn¿t give up. They would come and say hello to me everyday and give me treats trying to bribe me but I wasn¿t having any of it, i¿d been down this road before. I lasted 2 months until I caved and gave in, these people were just too nice and I could tell all they wanted was the best for me. I have made lots of friends here and they have explained that I will find a new family, although I have now been waiting since March! I have seen so many other cats come and go and some haven¿t even been as handsome as me, I can¿t understand why nobody wants to adopt me?

I have heard my carers say, Look at Ralphy he¿s lovely, If you¿re looking for a friendly lap cat meet Ralphy, If you want a fussy handsome boy meet Ralphy but still no one wants me, I have met a few people but they have always chosen another cat, I¿m happy for the other cat as we all have a tale to tell but I wish it would be my turn soon....

Why I'm special

Meet Ralphy! This sweetheart was found abandoned at a vets and was then brought into us. He was suffering from dermatitis, needed a dental and our vets found a heart murmur. He has had a dental and full heart scan which has shown Ralphy has a leaky valve in his heart, the vets are not concerned with this at the moment but there is a smal chance he could develop problems. When he first arrived he was very scared and was hiding behind his bed, he would grumble and hiss when you approached him. However he has never lashed out and after a while we have gained his trust and he has shown himself to be a very lovely and affectionate chap. Ralphy now loves human company and will happily accept fuss off you all day! He really leans into your hand and will purr away whilst head bumping everything he can. On occasion when he is unsure he does have a hiss but he soon settles and will be his friendly and affectionate self. He has shown us his playful side and will think of nothing of pouncing and batting his string around. He loves cat nip and will roll around in his bed enjoying every moment of it. His confidence with us has really grown and we feel once settled in a home with time and love he will continue to blossom. He will need a home with secondary school age children and someone who has experience.

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
