Hi my name is Nikki and this is my story...

I came here back in October last year after being 'rescued' by an RSPCA officer, apparently someone had reported that I had been hit by a car but they clearly didn't see my super cat speed help me escape contact, don't get me wrong: it was a close call and I may have used one of my lives but I'd been on the streets for a while, I knew how to handle myself, I was invincible (or so I thought)

Anyway I was picked up and taken to the THE VET and they checked me over and as I said no injuries, just put me back already but, they were worried about my skin. I didn't see the problem, yeah I had been itchy for a while but I'm normally not a moaner I just get on with my life and take the hand that's dealt to me but enough was enough when I was humiliated here, they put a collar on me and said it was for my own good to stop me licking and scratching at my skin and they gave me a disgusting liquid, I hated them for it and I let them know about it!

After a few months I actually started to feel better, I think I had forgotten what it felt like to be itch free and my coat was looking beautiful and shiny again, the collar has gone and now I only have a small tablet to keep the itch away, they think that I don¿t know that they crush it up and put it in my food but I know.
I soon realised I had to swallow my pride and accept that these guys were here to help me. Since my itchy skin has cleared up, I feel like a new cat and I love my new family and home and I am sorry that I was so mean to them in the beginning, they also tell me that this life is nothing compared to a real home and family, I dream of the day I am finally chosen and I hope now that I've lost that chip on my shoulder someone will choose me.....

During my time here I have seen hundreds of cats come and go and some only stay for a few days, especially those pesky kittens, what's so good about them they aren't litter trained and good luck with them hanging off your curtains! I am very clean, loving and affectionate. I love to play, my favourite game is when you drag a toy around and I can pounce on it and get it and after we've played together I will curl up on you lap for more fuss. I am quite chatty and I like to talk to you and I will tell you all about my day. I will love being outside and lounging around in the garden, especially in the summer months.

I don't really like sharing my things, you learn that on the streets and although I'm not that cat anymore I think I would still prefer a home as the only pet so I don't have to share any of my new owners affection, I think I deserve it all to myself

Thanks for taking the time to stop and read about me

Why I'm special

Poor Nikki was taken into the RSPCA animal hospital back in October as an injured stray, she had been reported as being involved in a road accident but after a check over by the vet she didn't have any injuries. When she arrived she did have a skin condition, that she would irritate and lick at, so she spent the first few months in our care wearing a buster collar and having treatment to cure her, her skin and coat is now in much better condition although we believe she will need her medication long term to help her. When Nikki arrived she was quite upset which was understandable with all the treatment she was receiving and she didn't like the collar she had to wear, over the past month or so we have noticed a significant change in her behaviour and we feel she fully appreciates the care that she has been given here now. Nikki is a different cat to the grumpy girl that arrived 5 months ago, she is now happy to see us and she will come running over to greet us, she is very chatty and she like to tell us about her day. Nikki enjoys having fuss and she loves exploring and having a wonder around the cattery so we think she will love going out in the garden especially in the warmer weather! She is super playful and she loves grappling with toys and chasing after them ¿ During her stay we have noticed that Nikki doesn't like being around other cats so she will need to be the only cat in her new home, she will suit a quiet home with no young children and owners that are used to cats who can help settle her in. She maybe a little scared when she first comes

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I could live with children of secondary school age
  • I'm independent; I like to do my own thing!
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
