JUSTICE

We are looking for a home for our special boy Justice. He was brought into RSPCA care after he was reported straying in an awful condition.  This poor lad had large, necrotic wounds on both sides of his face caused by abcesses - it must have been so sore! Weeks of pain relief and antibiotics helped him to slowly heal but this nervous boy had obviously had it tough and he found it difficult to trust humans.  He would hiss and lash out when he felt frightened so the staff spent time with him daily having a chat and offering him tasty treats to make him feel less upset.

The staff noticed that Justice was uncomfortable around his back end and wouldn't groom himself in certain areas - he had X rays to see what was happening and it showed that he has some arthritis and sclerosis in his hips.  He has been on pain relief for this and he is much, much happier.  He will need to stay on this medication for the rest of his life to keep him happy and comfortable.

Despite still being unsure of being handled and touched, he is much more interactive and will trill, chirp and headbutt the staff he is closest to. Katie, his main carer also has been doing clicker work with him - he can touch on command. Take a look at his video - he's so clever. We hope that in a home he will continue to develop and grow and become even more confident and relaxed.

Justice has FIV (a condition which affects the immune system of a cat, like HIV in humans) and for this reason, he is looking to live an indoor only lifestyle, where he can be the only cat in the household.  There is no reason why he can't live just as happy a life as any other normal cat, he will just need to be closely monitored and have regular check ups so he can be kept happy and healthy.

This sweet boy has had some awful pain, trauma and unhappiness over the last few years and we just want him to have the most amazing pampered life to help make up for it.  He's looking for an experienced cat home with adults and older teens.

Could you turn Justice's life around and offer him a bright and happy future?

Why I'm special

The staff here at Sheffield branch tell me I'm a very clever boy, I used to be really, really frightened but now I just love my people! I am clicker trained and can do all sorts of fantastic things like weigh myself, touch an item when asked and I can spin too.  I've got a few health concerns and I'm getting on in years but I've only just started to live my life to the full after having a horrible time on the streets, living rough, badly injured.  If you let me share your life, you'll have a friend for life in me.

My personality

  • I'd prefer to be the only cat in a home
  • I need to be kept indoors
  • I'd prefer an adult only household
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I may be able to live with a friendly dog
