JONI

Joni came in to us in the summer after being found in a garage with her kittens. Once they were grown we moved her into a foster home as she was very nervous but we wanted her to have a chance at an indoor life.

She's come an awfully long way and her fosterer thinks she's ready for her forever home. Joni's a really sweet and funny cat, but she's still very scared of being touched and will hide when anyone unknown visits.

On arrival in her foster home she hid behind the sofa for days, then progressed to the top of the cat tree. As you can see she now happily plays and sleeps beside her fosterer, she's even started to brave her lap.

Here's the latest update: "Joni has unwound another big notch over the last week and new behaviour includes: runs into the kitchen when I call her, will sit right by my feet when I'm getting her food ready, bravely investigated to see what bathtime is all about last night and actually chose to lie down and semi-sleep on my lap in bed this morning. She still won't tolerate touching, but I think this is just a matter of lots of time and patience. Nose boops are ongoing and she now won't eat until I've booped her :)  She's very playful and loves ping-pong balls - bounces them all round the flat and asks me to roll them for her. "

Joni's going to need a very calm home with just one or two adults who will give her all the patience she needs to blossom from the lovely cat she already is into the cuddly lap cat that's buried within! She'll need access to a secure garden once she's fully settled into her forever home.

Why I'm special

Joni's such a sweet and playful cat looking for a special someone or two. She's been through a lot and is very nervous but has an affectionate, loving nature and is so deserving of a happy forever home.

My personality

  • I may be able to live with another cat
  • I need to be able to go outside and explore
  • I'd prefer an adult only household
  • I'm a shy guy; I'll need time to settle
  • I would prefer not to live with a dog
