FAWKES

Fawkes was brought to the animal centre by a member of the public that had found him very lethargic in the street. When he arrived he was infested with fleas and ticks and had several superficial wounds on his face, he was seen by the vet straight away and after receiving treatment for the parasites and a course of antibiotics he was on the road to recovery.

In the first few days Fawkes was very quiet and was monitored by the staff closely however as he started to feel better he became much brighter and began to come out and meet the staff when they entered his pen. In the days that followed Fawkes’ true character began to show and since then he has become a very inquisitive ferret.

With the staff and volunteers his confidence has grown massively, when in his pen with him he will gladly climb up on your lap and likes to fully investigate the insides of jackets and pockets (on occasion stealing items if he takes a fancy to them).

During his stay with us Fawkes has been introduced to another ferret but was very unsure to begin with especially when the other ferret wanted to play. Gradually his interest in the other ferret did grow and he is now housed with him however Fawkes doesn’t make any attempt to interact with the other ferret but will curl up in the same bed as him.

Fawkes is now searching for a new home with a family that are familiar with ferrets as he can be nippy at times. The staff have started work with Fawkes to help him understand the correct way to interact with people so his new family would need to be willing to carry on with this to help him continue to progress.
