Celebrate spooky creatures with us this Howl-o-Ween

From black cats and bats to creepy crawlies and everything scaly, feathered or furry - we're the animal charity that cares for ALL animals, no matter how scary or scared. This is why we've launched Howl-o-Ween - our annual event to raise awareness (as well as vital funds), for all of the rescue animals in our care.

What is Howl-o-Ween?

Howl-o-Ween is a fun way to celebrate and support all of the creepy, crawly, feathered, furry, scaly animals we love, as well as our RSPCA network that cares for them this Halloween.

Howl-o-Ween is also our chance to join forces across different regions and to connect our huge network of supporters. We can't wait to see what we can do when we work together as one big RSPCA for each and every animal this Howl-o-Ween!

Join our celebrity and influencer friends for an afternoon of spooky spectacles

On 31st October, a team of our Celebrity and Influencer friends are staging an afternoon of interactive, virtual family fun for you to enjoy with your four, two or no legged pets. From an interactive quiz with Jess Megan to Cat Treat Baking with GBBO winner, David Atherton, there's something to suit everyone.

Why not get involved in some pumpkin carving with Shy Toys or hop on our live Zoom Home Pet Show final which will see Rory the Vet and Sophie Craig welcome our 12 finalists and their human friends. They will then crown our first ever Howl-o-Ween 'Best in Show' (psst, it could be you and your pet!).

Howl-o-Ween timeline of events

14:00-14:45 - Welcome and quiz - Jess Megan.

15:00-15:20 - Baking pet treats - David Atherton.

15:20-16:00 - Pumpkin carving and crafting - Shy toys.

16:00-17:00 - Home Pet Show Final - Rory the Vet and Sophie Craig.

Why not enter our Howl-o-Ween Home Pet Show?

The RSPCA is made up of a network of branches - each responsible for their own fundraising. During a year when our traditional fundraisers (such as dog shows) have not always be possible, it's more important than ever that we find innovative ways to do things. Enter, our Home Pet Show.

Our Home Pet Show is a fully inclusive virtual pet show. Wherever you live and whatever your pet, you can take part from the comfort of your own home.

Howl-o-Ween Home Pet Shows are currently taking place across the UK at 20 branches, centres and shops. We have five categories that we hope will offer something for all pets, whatever shape or size!

Pick your pet competition to get started

Trick or Treats: Our all-animal tricks class. How clever is your cunning pet?

Wize Wizards: A celebration of our old and wise friends in their autumn years. Do you have a golden oldie who deserves a treat?

Pumpkin Spiced Baby: We're looking for youngsters celebrating their first Howl-o-Ween. Is there a young whippersnapper in your home?

Howl-o-Ween Pets: From hounds of the Baskervilles and witches' cats to horses of the apocalypse and all things scaly, rodent or creepy-crawly - our Howl-o-Ween Pets show is a celebration of our pets in their natural Halloween glory (but remember, dressing up is just for humans!).

Art and Photography Class: Time for some Howl-o-Ween creativity. Submit your photos, pictures or other animal masterpieces - the spookier the better!

Remember, no animals are left out!

Chiara Civardi, Worcester & Mid Worcester Branch (The Holdings):

We're thrilled to be among the branches hosting the first Howl-o-Ween Home Pet Show. We're constantly looking for new, fun and safe ways to engage with the public and raise vital funds to help animals in need. Plus, it allows us to involve pet owners that wouldn't otherwise be able to attend physical pet shows.

As a result, we can showcase an unprecedented level of diversity of animals throughout competitions. We hope that by doing so we can strengthen our awareness-raising efforts about the importance of ALL animals' welfare.

Classes cost £4 to enter and every entry helps needy animals

On 30th October, winners in each class will be crowned and put forward to the next round of the competition. Eight finalists will then be picked to take part in our live Zoom Home Pet Show Final at 5 pm on 31st October. The final will be streamed live on Facebook as part of Howl-o-Ween and hosted by Rory the Vet and Sophie Craig.

We can't wait to meet our contestants

Of course, an all-animal pet show would be nothing without all of the animals and their human friends who enter. This is our chance to meet the generous people who support our local branches and centres with their fundraising activities and we can't wait! Richard, Catherine and Luna Booth are one family entering this year:

Having rehomed Luna from The Holdings in November 2018, we're very excited to enter her into this competition in support of the RSPCA. It's great that they can continue with these events despite the current situation. Having asked Luna what she thinks, she said that she's also very excited to enter and the photo that we have chosen of her is purrrrrfect!

Pets mean prizes!

Of course, a Pet Show needs prizes and we're very grateful for our corporate supporters who have donated prizes for our winners. Rover has kindly donated £20 vouchers for all winners and we also have prizes up for grabs from RSPCA Assured, RSPCA Shop and Little Suckers sweets.

Howl-o-Ween is our seasonal celebration of the whole RSPCA network and the animals we love - we really hope to see you there!
