Speak to your vet before making any decisions about breeding from your dog. Breeding from any animal is a big responsibility, and there are lots of things that you need to consider. You need to be confident that any puppies will be born with the best possible chance of being fit, healthy and happy and well suited to the lives they will lead.
 

It is very important to prioritise health, welfare and temperament over appearance when choosing which animals to breed from, in order to protect the welfare of both the parents and the puppies. Your vet will be able to give you advice on lots of things, such as health screening tests that should be done to check that both the parents are suitable for breeding.
 

Make sure that you are prepared for all the extra responsibilities (including financial) of caring for the parent animals and the puppies. Never breed from any dog without being absolutely sure that you will be able to find suitable homes for all the puppies, where all their welfare needs will be met.
