Special rehoming appeals

About special appeals

The aim of special appeals is to try and find homes for long-stay animals and other animals that are being overlooked by potential new owners for some reason.

Using WordPress for special appeals gives RSPCA branches and animal centres the flexibility of creating your own special appeals in the form of posts. WordPress is very easy to use, even for those of you who may never have edited a blog before.

If you are interested in advertising your special appeals please read the Special appeals user guide (PDF 364KB) to ensure you are happy creating the blogs. You will need an account set up so please contact Sarah Hintz at shintz@rspca.org.uk who will activate this for you. You can also read the Special appeals good practice guide (PDF 59KB) for tips on writing your special appeal.

Once you have created / edited your special appeals, you just need to notify to Sarah Hintz at shintz@rspca.org.uk again to approve and publish them.

What animals should have a special appeal?

Special appeals are for long-stay animals and other animals that are being overlooked by potential new owners for some reason.
Special appeals should not be used to advertise all the animals in your care, you can use pet search for this.

Promotion on the national website:

In order to give the animals the best chance possible of finding a new home, special appeals are promoted on the national website:

http://www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/pets/rehoming/specialappeals

It's a fantastic way of promoting those animals in your care who are having trouble finding new homes. So come on - give it a go!

Don't forget to use pet search to promote all of your animals that are available for rehoming.
