Who we are

The research animals department has a team of six scientific staff with specialist knowledge and expertise in a range of scientific, animal welfare and ethical issues.

Their role is to develop and promote practical solutions that will lead to the replacement of animals with humane alternatives, reduce animal use and suffering, and improve laboratory animal welfare.

The knowledge and professionalism of our research animals department is widely recognised and respected by the many governmental and non-governmental bodies and organisations we liaise with.

Research animals department staff work both nationally and in the international arena - particularly in conjunction with Eurogroup for Animals and RSPCA International.
