David Bowles is head of public affairs and manages the RSPCA strategy on its political work in Europe, Westminster and local government, and our campaigns work.

The RSPCA works to change animal welfare standards through legislation and in changing the minds of consumers and corporate business to make longterm change for animals. The priority work at present is concentrated on improving the lives of dogs, cats and rabbits, stopping the long distance transport of animals, using humane methods to control bovine tb in cattle and so preventing the badger cull, and working with industry and researchers on improving their policies in the use of animals in cosmetics testing and those animals that undergo sever suffering in research.

David has worked for the RSPCA for 17 years. Prior to joining the RSPCA, he worked for 15 years in zoos and with undercover organisations looking at the illegal trade in birds, ivory and endangered species.
