Leigh Grant
Leigh Grant is the chief executive of Freedom Food - the RSPCA’s welfare focused food labelling and farm assurance scheme.
Leigh has worked for Freedom Food since 2002 and has extensive experience in the food sector.
He heads up a team of 26 staff, including 10 full-time farm assessors. Under Leigh’s leadership Freedom Food has achieved higher level assurance scheme recognition from the government, successfully developed supply chain partnerships in the food industry, and seen unprecedented growth from 27 million farm animals in 2002 to 363 million in 2008 (including 281 million farmed salmon).
Freedom Food was set up by the RSPCA in 1994 to help improve the lives of farm animals and offer consumers a welfare choice. It is a charity in its own right, and the only farm assurance scheme dedicated solely to improving farm animal welfare. Freedom Food labelled products are available in all major retailers.
Leigh lives in Surrey with his wife and two daughters.
