David Bowles
David Bowles is director of communications and manages the RSPCA strategy in 30 countries; the political work in Europe, Westminster and local government, and our campaigns work.
David has worked for the RSPCA for 15 years. Prior to joining the RSPCA, he worked for 15 years in zoos and with undercover organisations looking at the illegal trade in birds, ivory and endangered species.
The RSPCA's international work involves undertaking proactive training and assistance work for government and non-governmental organisations and is concentrated in East Asia and Europe.
The RSPCA works to change animal welfare standards through legislation and in changing the minds of consumers and corporate business to make longterm change for animals. The present work is concentrated on animals owned as pets, used in farming, the use of animals in fashion and research and the dog licensing campaign.
David also manages the production of the Animal Welfare Indicators report, the only data produced annually in the world on trends in animal welfare and covering the four major issues the RSPCA works on.
