Claire Calder
Claire is a senior scientific officer and joined our companion animals team in November 2007.
She works on a range of issues which affect the welfare of dogs, including dog breeding and electric shock collars. She also works on issues affecting the welfare of racing greyhounds and ferrets.
Claire has represented the RSPCA externally on groups such as the Review Board on the Welfare Issues of Dog Breeding - a consortium of organisations which was set up to take forward the recommendations from three recent reports on dog breeding. Claire project managed the production of the RSPCA-commissioned report 'Pedigree dog Breeding in the UK: a Major Welfare Concern?'
Before joining the RSPCA, she completed an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare and a BSc in Zoology, as well as doing research in the field.
