Neglected dog Bobby is pleading for a new home
A heartfelt plea to anyone thinking of adopting a dog
03.03.12
An adorable cross-breed dog that came into RSPCA care in an awful condition has only one wish - to leave the confines of kennels and be welcomed into a new home.
All rescue dogs dream of going to a 'forever' home, but not all have endured months of neglect, followed by weeks of treatment, on top of more than nine months in kennels, like our gorgeous Bobby.
About Bobby's neglect
Bobby was removed from her previous home by RSPCA Inspector Laura Bryant in May 2011.
Despite being a loyal companion to her previous owner since a pup, Bobby was badly let down by them.
Bobby was in an emaciated state when she first came into our care weighing 18.45kgs. The ideal weight for a dog of her size is between 25-28kgs.
Within just two weeks of normal feeding at our Gonsal Farm Animal Centre in Shropshire, Bobby's weight increased to 20.20kgs.
But her weight wasn't Bobby's only problem. She was also suffering from a severe skin condition with areas of bald, flaky skin all over her body which required intensive treatment.
And in addition to her ailments, she was a nervous, frightened dog that had not been well socialised at all.
We successfully prosecuted Bobby's previous owner and in October 2011 they were banned from keeping animals for five years, ordered to complete 100 hours of community work and pay costs of £750.
An amazing transformation
After months of dedicated work and tender, loving care, Bobby has been transformed into an extremely people-oriented dog with a new found lust for life.
Deputy manager at Gonsal Farm, Di Jones, said:
It is fair to say Bobby is an entirely different dog from the one that first came into our care.
Not only has her physical condition changed dramatically, but her personality has truly blossomed.
Now the only thing we have to do for Bobby is to find her the perfect new owner who will appreciate all that she has been through and cherish this wonderful, sweet girl forever more.
Are you a perfect match for Bobby?
Bobby is thought to be between eight and nine years old.
She walks well on the lead and has good recall.
Ideally Bobby needs a home where she can be the only pet so that she can receive all the one-to-one attention and bundles of love she deserves.
Bobby has since been moved to our Coventry Animal Centre in the hope that she will have better luck at finding a new home.
So if you think you're a perfect match for Bobby and can offer her the 'forever' home she is yearning for, please contact:
