Rebecca Evans, Assembly Member (AM) for Mid and West Wales, has demonstrated her support for animal welfare issues by spending a morning with an RSPCA inspector.

Mrs Evans took to the road with RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben on Friday, 24 February.

The experience provided her with firsthand knowledge of the varied and demanding workload facing our frontline staff.

'I've seen the difference that (RSPCA) officers are making'

Rebecca Evans is a member of the National Assembly for Wales' Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, as well as the Assembly's Common Agricultural Policy Task and Finish Group.

She said:

Spending a day on the beat with an RSPCA inspector has opened my eyes to the animal welfare issues in Pembrokeshire.

I can now fully appreciate the demands and calls facing the RSPCA on a daily basis, and I've seen at first hand the difference that its officers are making every day.

'Animal welfare is important to the people of Pembrokeshire'

RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben said:

Animal welfare is an important issue to the people of Pembrokeshire and it's important that we are able to show our Assembly Members the scope of our work and our partnership with the general public.

The RSPCA is totally reliant on the public's support and interest. Not only are we grateful for their financial generosity, but also for regularly reporting animal welfare concerns to us.

Last week we launched our five Pledges to help animals and improve their welfare.

The Pledges don't cover all of our animal welfare work, but prioritise those areas we hope to make changes in over the next few years

What you can do to help

But we can't do it on our own - everyone needs to do their bit.

So please spare a few minutes to find out about our five Pledges and in particular what you can do to help.

And if you support one or all of our Pledges, please let us know by taking an RSPCA Pledge! Thank you.
