Dog beater caught on CCTV attacking German shepherd

19.09.12

A Gravesend man was caught on CCTV kicking and stamping on a German shepherd dog as he walked her in a park.

Unemployed Jordan Kearsley, 18, was seen on CCTV beating the elderly female German shepherd named Blaze in May this year in Gordon Parade in Gravesend, Kent.

Kearsley has now been banned for life from keeping animals, following a prosecution brought by the RSPCA.

Shocking footage of dog being beaten

The footage showed Kearsley repeatedly kicking and stamping on Blaze and dragging her to the ground. He also has a Doberman on a lead, but this dog is not harmed.

The police are called and the footage shows Kearsley being arrested and the dogs being taken away from him.

Convicted of heartbreaking cruelty

Dartford Magistrates heard that Kearsley’s father was shown the footage of his son kicking his dog and said that the son would never have any contact with the dogs again.

Kearsley has now moved to Sutton, with his mother. The dogs have been returned to his father.

RSPCA Inspector Vikki Dawe said:

This video footage was heartbreaking to see. This poor elderly dog was being kicked and stamped on. The violence was horrific.

Kearsley was sentenced to 12 weeks custody, suspended for 18 months, ordered to attend a senior attendance centre and ordered to pay £750 in costs. He was also subjected to a curfew from 8.30pm to 6am for 12 weeks.
