We appeal for owner to come forward
25.07.12
We're appealing for information after a corn snake was found in a garden in Porthcawl, Wales.
The 30-centimetre long snake was found in the Wellfield Avenue area of the town on Wednesday, 18 July.
Exotic pet could have escaped
It is estimated that the exotic animal is less than a year old and probably escaped from its owner. The snake is currently in our care.
RSPCA Inspector Neill Manley said:
Corn snakes are popular pets but are notorious escape artists!
They have an age span of up to 20 years so this one has a long life to look forward to.
If you have have any information at all about who this snake belongs to please call our inspector information line: 0300 123 8018.
About exotic pets
Exotic pets have speicalist needs which can be difficult to meet.
We would always encourage anyone thinking of buying an exotic pet to ensure they have carefully considered their decision and thoroughly researched the animal's needs.
Due to the growing popularity of exotic pet species being kept, and the increasing numbers coming into our care, we've pledged to reduce the number of exotic animals kept as pets and increase their humane care.
