Middlesex North West & South Hertfordshire Branch

Volunteer

We have over 150 passionate and dedicated volunteers, who help with everything from our shops, animal care and rehoming, fundraising and events, education and talks, and everything behind the scenes such as maintenance, social media, Ebay sales.

If you have some time, either on a regular or one off basis, then we probably have a role for you.

Our shops

Volunteering in one of our retail shops is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the future of animal welfare whilst having fun and making new friends. As a retail volunteer, you’ll be the public face of the Branch and make a big difference to how the world sees us and the work we do. Or be a key part of the team 'behind the scenes' preparing items for sale.

Animal fostering

We prefer the majority of our animals to be in a home environment whilst waiting for their forever home.  Some need extra love and care to help them overcome fear and uncertainty by allowing them the time and patience to build their confidence in a calm home environment and get used to people.  Others might be recouperating from an injury or illness.  They need someone who understands their needs and can give them the care and assistance that they need.  This is hugely rewarding role, when you see the changes in an animal's behaviour thanks to your care and dedication.  We are always looking for cat and rabbit fosters.

Behind the Scenes

We have a variety of roles for people with specific skills including marketing and social media, maintenance and repairs, Ebay research / photography and listings, fundraising, general office skills.  These are the types of roles where you can give as much or as little time as you have to spare on a regular or occasional basis.

Events and fundraising

We have regular events throughout the year all across the area, and we always need people to help our for a few hours on the day with out soft toy tombola, stalls or collection tins.

Cattery cleaning and cat socialising

We have a small cattery and our cats love someone to pop in and play with them, groom them, feed and clean.  We have a rota and require a weekly commitment for this role.

What you'll get:

  • Meet new people, make friends, help local animals
  • Gain and develop your skills for your CV
  • Full induction and training programme so that you can feel confident in your role

What are we looking for:

  • We ask that you are reliable and punctual, with a positive friendly attitude, and that you are willing to work as part of a team, learn new things and share your existing talents.
  • Some volunteers give us a few hours each week, others join us in the holidays, and there's no upper limit on the time you can give!

Please note that we can only accept applications from those aged 16+ and aged 18+ for our animal care roles.
