Fosterer for dogs and cats
To provide time and a temporary home for animals who are in need of foster care whilst they are waiting to be rehomed.
Location
Bury St Edmunds area. IP31, IP32, IP33, IP28
Key activities
To provide care, love, home comforts and suitable housing in a safe environment for pets while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines.
To feed, water and groom pets as appropriate.
Provide suitable bedding (supplied if required).
In the case of a dog provide suitable exercise.
Keep accurate records of expenditure on pets, via receipts and completed expense forms. Financial support given.
Talk to members of public about animals in your care with the hope of rehoming them.
Times & preferred duration of commitment
Flexible.
Dependent on animals in care. 3 months minimum
Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required
Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial, experience of caring for cats or dogs is essential.
You will need a separate room to keep the cats in and your family must be fully supportive.
If you have existing animals they must be spayed/neutered unless there are medical reasons why they can¿t be.
If you are fostering dogs you will need a secure garden and plenty of time to spend with them.
Training provided
Guidance will be provided and a contact will always be available.
Expenses
The branch will reimburse any expenses.
