Fosterer for rabbits
To provide time and a temporary home for animals who are in need of foster care whilst they are waiting to be rehomed.
Location
Durham area. DH7 8JN
Key activities
To provide care in a safe environment for rabbits while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines.
Hutch and run will be provided, bedding and feed will be provided or expenses reimbursed.
Some rabbits will need medical attention so the ability to transport animals to a vet by car is essential.
All will require a high standard of care, feeding, grooming, and assessment.
Keep accurate records of expenditure on pets, via receipts and completed expense forms.
Talk to members of public about animals in your care with the hope of rehoming them.
Times & preferred duration of commitment
Flexible.
Dependent on animals in care.
Should have contact with a knowledgeable and reliable person who is able to care for the foster rabbits while you may go on holiday.
Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required
Experience of rabbit ownership is essential, as is a commitment to the RSPCA's standards of animal welfare.
If you own other animals, they must be neutered and vaccinated.
Patience and commitment are also essential, as some of our rabbits have been in our care for a long time or may have been mistreated and will need good socialisation.
Training provided
Training and support is provided throughout the fostering period.
