Home visitor

To undertake home visits for the RSPCA and feedback information on potential adopters to the Centre and Rehoming Co-ordinator. These visits will be both prior to and post adoption.

Location

In and around the Godstone, East Grinstead, Redhill and Brighton areas.

Key activities

Visiting potential adopters' homes, gathering information as needed to enable the Centre and Rehoming Co-ordinator to make an assessment as to the suitability of the potential adopters' application.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Flexible, however we ask that all Home Visitors are able to make initial contact with adopters within 48 hours of receiving the request for a home visit. Arrangements should be made for the visit to take place within 7 days; visits can take place during the day or evening and at weekends.


Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

No previous experience necessary as full training will be provided. Good organisation and communication skills are important. Must have access to own vehicle, have business insurance (copies of driving documents will be required) and willing to conduct visits during unsocial hours (e.g. evenings and weekends.)

Training provided

All Home Visitors are asked to attend an RSPCA Home Visitor training session. The first few visits will be alongside a trained, experienced Home Visitor, to allow trainee to grow in confidence.

Expenses

Reasonable travel expenses and an allowance for each telephone call made in connection with a visit can be claimed.
