To provide a temporary home for cat(s)/kitten(s) whilst they are in the care of RSPCA Bromley & District Branch. Volunteers must be prepared to deal with visits to their home by potential adopters.

Ideally a volunteer would live within the RSPCA Bromley & District Branch area of postcodes BR1, BR2, BR3, BR4, BR5, BR6, BR7 and TN16(3).

Key activities

To provide a safe and caring temporary home for cat(s)/kitten(s) waiting to be permanently re-homed by the Branch.

Keep accurate records of expenditure, via receipts and completed expense forms.

Talk to members of public the animal(s) in your care with the hope of rehoming them.
To be able to transport to any required veterinary appointments.
Introducing potential adopters to the animal(s) at your home.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

For as long as the cat(s)/kitten(s) require a temporary home until such a time that they find a permanent new home. The period of fostering can vary greatly.

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial but not essential.
To be keen to give your time and home whilst a loving new home is found. Very rewarding but requires high levels of your time, emotional commitment and patience.
Must be reliable and trustworthy and be committed to animal welfare.
Your family must be fully supportive. If you have existing animals they must be neutered.
Access to transport in case of emergencies and for any routine vet appointments.

Training provided

Training and support is provided by the Branch throughout the fostering period

Expenses

All essentials for the fostered cat(s)/kitten(s), mileage and veterinary care covered by the Branch.
