Key activities

Providing a stable home environment for a rescue puppy
Follow RSPCA aim to promote good social skills and basic training within a healthy home environment.
Correct any learnt bad behaviours following RSPCA training techniques.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Time commitment will vary and puppy and fosterer will be matchedbased on needs of puppy and foster carer.
Those working full time may still be able to help as the Centre will act as day care providing puppy can be dropped off and collected by the fosterer during our open times

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

Must have experience of owning dogs.
Be prepared to work closely with the Animal Centre in following positive training techniques only.
If work full time, ensure they can commit time to provide puppy with its socialisation & exercise needs on a daily basis.
Be aware that all puppies will be rehomed as soon as possible, but the fosterer will have really helped a rescued puppy gain good experiencefrom a home environment rather than just a kennel.
Transport is required for this rewarding volunteering role as volunteer will be asked to transport the RSPCA animals as necessary.
Resident children must have experience of dogs and be over 5 years of age.

Training provided

Extensive training regarding how to correctly socialise a puppy and provide good basic training and correct bad habits with only positive training methods.

Expenses

All food, bedding, Veterinary expenses are provided by the RSPCA via the Animal Centre.
