To provide a foster home for dogs in need that are awaiting adoption.

Key activities

Caring for a dog in your own home for a potentially prolonged period, improving its rehoming chances by socialisation, continuing / starting house training / basic commands etc.

Daily care of the dog - walking/grooming/feeding/playing etc.

Helping in the rehoming process - having potential new owners visit the dog, answering questions, highlighting the dogs positives etc.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Depending on the dog, but around 1-2 hours per day of activity plus dogs cannot be left home alone for prolonged periods. A minimum commitment of 3 months is preferred.

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

Experience of dog ownership.
Commitment to RSPCA standards of animal welfare.
If you own dogs of your own, they need to be vaccinated & neutered.
Love, patience & commitment - some of our dogs have had a hard time and will need a lot of TLC to bring out the best in them.

Training provided

Clear guidelines (for example what to do if the dog is ill) and support will be provided.

Expenses

All veterinary and food bills for the dog will be covered.
