Cat and dog fosterers

To provide a temporary home for animals who are in need of foster care whilst they find a new home.

Location

We need people in and around the Reading with Oxon Border Branch area to take animals into their homes, preferably within a few miles of Reading.

Key activities

Housing, feeding, cleaning/grooming, socialising, exercising and sometimes training.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Full time whilst an animal is in your care (although time at home varies for cats and dogs).

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

To be keen to give your time and home to animals whilst they are found a loving new home. Very rewarding but requires high levels of your time, emotional commitment and patience. A suitable environment for the animal is required together with some experience of caring for animals. Cat fostering - a safe, warm, ventilated and secure spare room or conservatory is required. Must be kept separate from any existing cats in the household.
Dog fostering - a secure home and garden environment is required. Must be experienced with dogs and familiar with basic training.

Training provided

Full support from the branch co-ordinator will be provided and all foster homes will receive a home check in advance.

Expenses

Food, bedding and other essentials together with veterinary care covered by the branch.
