Cat Fosterer

To temporarily foster cats whilst they are in the care of RSPCA Sunderland, Hartlepool and South Tyneside Branch.


Location

Throughout the Sunderland, Hartelpool and South Tyneside Branch area.

Key activities

To provide a quiet space within a home environment for cat/s in need of special attention (e.g. kittens, nursing queens, cat/s recovering after operations). Daily care of the cat/s including feeding, cleaning and training. Fosterers are required to work in close co-operation with RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre and/or RSPCA Felledge Cattery and to follow RSPCA fostering guidelines and procedures.

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Flexible, for as long as the cat/s require a temporary home until such a time that they find a permanent new home.

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

Confidence to handle cats and an understanding of cat behaviour required. Patience and the ability to give cat/s the TLC needed to enable them to thrive and become available for future rehoming. Fosterers need access to transport in case of emergenices. A visit of prospective fosterers homes will be required, in line with RSPCA guidelines.

Training provided

Training will be provided. All necessary equipment, food and veterinary treatment will be provided for the cats in your care.

Expenses

Reasonable expenses can be paid.
