Branch trustee

The branch is run by a committee of trustees who are keen to oversee and manage the affairs of the local RSPCA branch and animal welfare centre. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of animal welfare, safeguarding the assets and setting local policies.

Key activities

Trustees serve on the governing body of the charity and have responsibility for controlling the management and running of the branch. In order to become a trustee you must be a member or become a member of the RSPCA. Details available from www.rspca.org.uk

Times & preferred duration of commitment

Trustees are expected to attend monthly committee meetings.
The level of commitment may vary depending upon whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties, such as the role of branch officer (chairman, treasurer or secretary). Trustees are elected for a 12 month term at the Branch Annual General Meeting.

Experience / skills / knowledge / personal qualities required

You must be committed to the RSPCAs objectives, be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills. Some trustee roles require specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience and awareness of employment law and or charity legislation.

Trustee training and guidance notes are provided.
