Millbrook Animal Centre

How you can help us

Did you know that it costs the RSPCA over £1,800 a day to run Millbrook Animal Centre? We rely entirely on the help and support of people like you to help us raise the necessary fund.

Every day at the centre's staff have to deal with new cases of neglect and abandonment. Liz Wood, deputy manager, recalls one of the cases:

One Saturday morning a gentleman turned up with a rabbit and guinea pig he had found dumped in a box. When we took a look we couldn’t quite believe what we saw! This was possibly the most matted guinea pig we had ever seen.

He was named Smokey and after a good hair cut he felt a lot better. The rabbit, which we named Pip-Squeak, had very over grown claws and was underweight.

Both of them regained full health, were neutered and found loving homes with friends of their own species to live with.

There are many ways you can help out the animals in our care. Take part in one of our events, get fundraising, donate or volunteer for us.

Events

From car boot sales to fun dog shows and from open days to Christmas fairs, Millbrook’s events feature something for everyone. Find out about our latest events via our social media sites.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us organise our events, so please get in touch!

Support our work

Dog Matilda brought into Millbrook Animal Centre with horrible injuries © RSPCA

Many animals who come into our care are in very bad conditions, like Matilda. She was brought to us last year after being found running down the road in the middle of the night with rope tied to her. She was covered in the most horrible injuries which were infected.

After lots of care from our staff and the vet she did make a great recovery and as she was microchipped we managed to find her original owner.

Poor Matilda had been stolen from a park in London a year before and her owner had given up all hope of finding her ever again. But it wasn’t long until Matilda and her owner were reunited.

Caring for animals like Matilda costs a lot of money and we couldn’t do our work with your generous support. If you would like to fund our work, please visit our donation pages. Thank you.

Volunteer

We couldn’t do our vital work without the help of our volunteers. There are a wide variety of volunteer roles available to suit all interests and time commitments. If you think you can spare some time to help the centre, please have a look at our volunteer vacancies.
