Millbrook Animal Centre

Adoption

Here at Millbrook most of the animals have been rescued from neglect and bad treatment by their previous owners.

When they come to us they are often nervous of strangers. Staff and volunteers spend weeks, sometimes months, looking after them preparing them for a new life and a second chance.

Rusty’s ordeal

Old Rusty was removed from a property along with 30 cats by one of our Inspectors. He was found tied up in the garden sitting on top of his broken kennel, surrounded by car batteries and rusty nails. No water or food in sight.

When he came into our care he was confused and needed a lot of attention and love. He remained at the centre for 9 months whilst his court case was heard. His owners were found guilty and Rusty was signed over into our care. Staff were worried that due to his age he wouldn’t find a new home, but luck turned for old Rusty and he found a fantastic new home with a loving family.

Long stay residents

Horses rescued from Spindle Farm © RSPCA

Some of the animals that come into our care stay with us for a very long time. Like the horses we rescued from Spindle Farm near Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

Staff at Millbrook nursed back to health a number of the horses and ponies from the farm and cared for them whilst the case went to court. All the horses and ponies from the farm have now successfully been rehomed.

Rescue a RSPCA animal

All our animals are looking for someone to offer them a new home, to be a friend and look after them. In return a pet will offer fun, friendship and loyalty.

Equine rehoming

It takes a lot of responsibility to own a horse or pony. If you think you have what it takes to offer a RSPCA rescue horse a second chance, please watch the short video below. Sue Walter, animal centre manager, explains a little bit about the rehabilitation and adoption process of horses and ponies that come into our care:

If you think you can offer one of our rescue animals a second chance, please get in thouch or visit our pet search facility!
